Dr. Thomas J. Balshi established, Pi Dental Center, At The Institute For Facial Esthetics, one of the first dental implant treatment and training centers in the United States, utilizing the Brånemark System of osseointegrated implants. The center focuses on advanced clinical treatment and does extensive research with osseointegrated dental implants. Graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, and a Charter Member and Fellow of the Academy of Osseointegration, past vice-president of the Academy's Osseointegration Foundation, and Chairman of its Endowment Committee, Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academies of Practices in Dentistry. He received surgical and prosthetic training in the Brånemark System of osseointegrated implants at the University of Toronto by Dr. George Zarb and Professor Per Ingvar Brånemark, of the Institute For Applied Biotechnology, Sweden. He is a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists and serves on many of the College's committees, including the Implant Steering Committee. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontists, Member of the American Society of Geriatric Dentistry, Member of the International College of Prosthodontists, Fellow of the American College of Dentists, Member of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Member of the American Dental Association, and member of the Pennsylvania Prosthodontic Association. Dr. Balshi received a Citation of Recognition from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, House of Representatives, and the Freedom Foundation's George Washington Honor Medal for excellence and individual achievement in the dental field. In 2004, Dr. Balshi was selected to be in the book, "The Best Dentists in America." Dr. Balshi established, Pi Dental Center, one of the first dental implant treatment centers in the United States, utilizing the Brånemark System of osseointegrated implants. The center focuses on advanced clinical treatment, extensive research with osseointegrated dental implants, and private clinical training programs. Dr. Balshi lectures globally at meetings on the subject of osseointegrated dental implants, and has published landmark articles on the subject. He participates in the Temple University School of Dentistry Continuing Education Program. He is the lead author for the comprehensive book: A PATIENT'S GUIDE FOR DENTAL IMPLANTS (Addicus Publishing). He has created a video to instruct implant patients on oral hygiene procedures, and has published a comprehensive cookbook entitled FROM SOUP TO NUTS, designed for patients going through implant treatment. Dr. Balshi has taught graduate and postdoctoral students from Harvard, Tufts, and many other dental schools, the protocols developed at PI for TEETH IN A DAY and TEETH IN AN HOUR. Dr. Gary T. Morreale Dr. Gary T. Morreale is an Endodontist practicing at Pi Dental Center in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. Stephen F. Balshi, MBE Stephen F. Balshi, MBE received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Catholic University of America, Washington, DC. He was awarded a Master's Degree at the School of Biomedical Engineering, Science and Health Systems at Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA with a published thesis on the stability of Brånemark implants and immediate function. He is the Chief Operating Officer of CM Ceramics USA, the first branch of the international CM Ceramics dental laboratory (http://www.cmceramics.com in North America, located in Mahwah, NJ, that focuses on the rehabilitation of the fully edentulous, utilizing state-of-the-art CAD/CAM technology. He is also the Director of Research for Pi Dental Center at the Institute for Facial Esthetics in Fort Washington, PA and is responsible for numerous projects related to the bone-implant interface and stability of dental implants during the critical initial healing period, among others. He has been published in several refereed journals including, the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants, Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and Implant Dentistry. He has lectured at national and international meetings including the Academy of Osseointegration, the American College of Prosthodontists, and the International College of Prosthodontists on immediate function, computer guided surgery, and the CM Ceramics line of fully edentulous restorations. |
